Kathie Lee Gifford shared how she celebrates Thanksgiving and how she sees the Lord through the vales focused on during this season.
“That brings me to Thanksgiving, which is my favorite holiday of the whole year. I enjoy them all. But this one has always been my favorite. I think that’s because it’s about gratitude,” Gifford told Fox News Digital.
“My mom was an unbelievable cook. She couldn’t boil water when she was 19 and got married, but she learned to be an amazing cook. So she taught me and my sister and my brother all of her amazing recipes,” the TV personality added. “I got kicked out of Sunday school, I got kicked out of the [Girl Scouts] Brownies and I got kicked out of the America’s Junior Miss Pageant. So, you know, I don’t like the rules, but would be a fool not to make what my mother made every Thanksgiving flawlessly.”

While Gifford honors her mother through the Thanksgiving meal, she honors her father through a true focus on gratitude and turning to the Lord through the holiday season.
“We always go around the table and ask, ‘What are you most grateful for this year and what are you looking forward to in the next year?’” Gifford explained.
This year, Gifford has a lot to be grateful for as she welcomed two new grandchildren to her family this year. Rosie May was born to her daughter Cassidy in August, followed by Faith born to her daughter-in-law Erika in September. Having been a grandmother for over three years, Gifford’s grandchildren are her life, and she loves seeing her children embark on their parenting journeys.
“I had my children later in life and I’ve certainly had my grandchildren later,” she told PEOPLE. “It is exactly what everybody’s always told me, which seems like such a cliché. But clichés — they’re real. Because they’re true.”
“There is nothing like it in the whole world. To see my children, first of all, so in love with their spouses. I’m so grateful to God for that. They picked wisely. They’re so in love and it makes me so happy,” she continued.
“Then to see them parenting the way they do, which is beyond,” Gifford added. “Cody’s wife was bedridden for like six months with their second baby and the love they showed each other and the love they had for this unborn child that they were just going to save no matter what happened.”
Praise the Lord for the new life that has entered the Gifford family this year. They will surely have much to share when discussing their gratitude this year and reflecting on the Lord’s goodness and provision.
