GAF star Jesse Hutch gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at what the audition process is like for actors.

“An audition comes in,” he captioned a recent Instagram post containing screenshots of him taping an audition. “It’s due as soon as possible. Your current life requires immediate pause and redirection. You read the material, you make decisions, you prepare, you find a reader, a space, decide a background, lighting, reader and more then likely you need to Jimmy rig and Macgyver a camera rig and makeshift lighting. Depends if you’re home or on the road.”

Hutch recalled times when his children were still babies, sharing, “I would hold them as they slept in their baby carrier while my wife would read for me off screen. Giving the audition everything I had but also hoping that I would not wake the baby, cause crying, or lose my reader, because she had to now go breastfeed.”

“Now my kids are old enough, and sometimes they hold the camera and read with me,” the actor added.

Hutch continued, “As actors we audition anywhere we must: hotel room, hallway, broom closet, back alleyway, beside a swimming pool or out in the bush, roof top or in a rental car. It’s an amazing, odd, challenging career and absolutely enjoy it. This is what God made me for. I meet fans every day that tell me their stories or share encouragement about how they’ve been impacted by stories I’ve been blessed to be a part of. Thank you hustle. Thanks for coming at me. Now prepare for a fight. I’m coming at ya.”

Hutch’s audition process preparations have clearly paid off — one of the actor’s upcoming projects includes HAVE WE MET THIS CHRISTMAS?, a holiday romance from GAF, co-starring Danica McKellar.

“One of the cornerstones of Great American Christmas is celebrating the legacy of family talent in our Christmas movies,” Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, said in a statement. “Our viewers love seeing beloved stars, like Danica McKellar and Jesse Hutch, who share the screen across generations and bring our heartfelt stories to life. It is a tradition that makes Great American Christmas feel like coming home for the holidays.”

Hutch also recently teased another upcoming, still-unnamed project, captioning a collection of set photos, “Trust me when I say this is a character like nothing you have ever seen me play.”

“This short film is an incredible story of reconnection, forgiveness, and redemption. You will probably laugh and cry and chuckle,” he continued. “Coming soon. Get excited.”

Hutch’s dedication to acting, no matter how difficult the audition process can get, has truly paid off for the actor!
