The first four episodes of THE PAPER, a new follow-up series to THE OFFICE, will arrive on Sept. 4 on Peacock.
Two new episodes will release every Thursday through Sept. 25, Variety reported July 10.
The official logline for the show reads, “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.”
The show stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Oscar Nuñez, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young and Tim Key.
The show takes place in the Toledo Truth-Teller offices. Nuñez is reprising his role as Oscar in THE OFFICE, now working as an accountant for the paper. Impacciatore plays the managing editor and Gleeson plays an idealistic new hire.
THE OFFICE creator Greg Daniels co-created the new series with Michael Joman under Universal Television. They executive produce alongside Ricky Gervais, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas and Stephen Merchant.
“I told Mr. Greg Daniels that if Oscar came back, he would probably be living in a more bustling, cosmopolitan city,” Nuñez previously joked at an NBCUniversal Upfront. “Greg heard me, and he moved Oscar to Toledo, Ohio, which has three times the population of Scranton. So, it was nice to be heard.”
While Nuñez is the only OFFICE cast member set to return, others have said they would love to cameo.

John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert in THE OFFICE, told Entertainment Tonight he’d come on the show if Daniels called him.
“I will do anything for that guy,” he said. “He calls, I’ll show up.”
OFFICE actors Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who host the “Office Ladies” podcast, said they recently visited THE PAPER set and reconnected with team members.
“Jenna and I stopped by set,” Kinsey said on the TODAY show. “Greg had invited us, and we showed up, and not only was Oscar there, but our crew, so many of these wonderful people. Because the crew was our extended family, and we’re still really close with them, and that was really moving to see.”
Gleeson said Steve Carell and Krasinski encouraged him to join THE PAPER.
“[Krasinski] was wonderful. I mean, his big advice that he gave me was to do it,” Gleeson said. “And the same with Steve Carell, another just wonderful actor who I’d worked with before. And their advice was, if it’s [‘The Office’ creator] Greg Daniels, you should do it because getting to work with him is a treat that not many people get to have.”
THE OFFICE, while funny, was not clean, and it’s likely that THE PAPER will consist of the same humor.
