Ty Pennington brought back some of the fun of his iconic show EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION through a mobile game that allows players to renovate homes themselves.

“Finding yourself missing the original EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION? 🤓 Feeling nostalgic for the early 2000s? Craving an escape that doesn’t involve social media?! Check out the official Extreme Makeover: Home Edition game 🥳,” Pennington shared on Instagram. “A Super fun game where you match objects, demo and help build dream houses for deserving families. 🙌🏼 Best of all?! It’s FREE to play!!!”

The show the game is based on, EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, was one of TVs hottest shows in the early 2000s, running for 10 seasons from 2003 through 2012. Since then, Pennington has been the host of multiple other renovation shows, including his current show ROCK THE BLOCK which pits top HGTV stars against each other as they work under limiting circumstances to execute the best home renovation.

Season 6 of the show aired this spring, and though another season has not been officially announced, Pennington revealed he will return to the network for filming in September. This is great news for his fans, as HGTV canceled multiple beloved shows earlier this year to save on costs.

The canceled shows include MARRIED TO REAL ESTATE, IZZY DOES IT, BARGAIN BLOCK and FARMHOUSE FIXER. Pennington, however, was saved from the chopping block by delivering one of the network’s most popular shows. Meanwhile, away from the camera, he continues to savor life even more than normal after facing a near-death experience.

“Honestly, it was knowing that…you find out who loves you, because people message you and you’re like, oh my G**. It’s like you died and people finally message you and say…’I forgot how much I love you,’ you know?” Pennington told Fox.

“It was one of the best experiences…because you got to survive it, but you realized how much you’re worth to other people and how much you would be missed. Honestly, I think we should all go through something like that to really appreciate the people that love you, because sometimes we take that for granted. And I think that’s also what a home is like. You forget how important that is to our lives and when it’s gone, you know sometimes we all — and I think recently, especially here in LA — it’s a reality that things we take for granted could be taken away,” he explained.

While fans still have to wait a little while longer to see what Pennington’s next project will be, until then, they can live out their nostalgia through his new video game.
