Selena Gomez, 33, already knows the movies she wants her future kids to watch: INSIDE OUT and INSIDE OUT 2.
“I’m gonna make my children watch it,” she told Amy Poehler, who voices Joy in the franchise, on Poehler’s Sept. 9 podcast episode. “They don’t exist yet, but I can’t wait.”
“I really wanted to ask you about that movie because I watched it with my sister, and I completely sobbed,” Gomez told her of INSIDE OUT. “It is so factual.”
Gomez suggested that schools make it a requirement to watch and do a homework assignment on.
“I’m so fascinated with the human mind, and it would break my heart,” the pop singer said of the movie.
The first movie focuses on Riley, an 11-year-old who just moved with her family from Minnesota to San Francisco. She’s guided by her animated emotions: Anger, Disgust, Joy, Fear and Sadness.
INSIDE OUT 2 introduced the emotion Anxiety.

“You’re either feeling it in real time as a young person, or you’re remembering that feeling as a person in your thirties and forties, or fifties or above,” Poehler said of anxiety.
Movieguide® gave both INSIDE OUT and INSIDE OUT 2 a +2 content score.
“INSIDE OUT 2 is a marvelous, family-friendly animated movie. The movie is delightful, funny, inventive, and heartwarming. It has many positive messages. For example, it promotes ‘the joy of the Lord is your strength’ (Nehemiah 8:10c) and doing the right thing, controlling your emotions and not letting anxieties overcome your decision making,” Movieguide® said of the second movie.
Gomez is currently engaged to 37-year-old Benny Blanco.
“I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children,” Gomez said on the “Jay Shetty Podcast” in March.
“I love making [children] laugh; they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it,” she said.
Blanco said last year that he deeply wants to be a dad.
“I love kids; I love being an uncle,” he told InStyle. “I want to be a dad, though, God willing. I’m just dreaming and praying every day.”
He told Howard Stern on his show, “I want to have kids. That’s the next goal, to check the box. I have a ton of godkids, I’ve got a ton of nephews. I love being around kids.”
However, Gomez revealed that she can’t physically have children.
“I haven’t ever said this…but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” Gomez told Vanity Fair. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while…”
“…It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people,” she continued. “I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
It’s wonderful to see Hollywood celebs excited about parenthood!
