Viral Pastor Broadcasts Hope to Millions of People

By Mallory Mattingly

Pastor Philip Mitchell joined the Praise program on Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN), where he encouraged those without hope to look to the only One who can give hope: Jesus.

“And there are people out there who was where I was, shotgun to my chin, and just feel empty,” Mitchell said. “Wherever you are on the spectrum, whether you have lost hope or you think you don’t need God. I just want to say to you that God created you in His image, and that He loves you, and that the evidence of his love is that He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, into the earth who died a sacrificial death in your place, that you may be forgiven for your sins, that you may know God as a heavenly Father.”

Mitchell then presented the Gospel to all those watching.

“I want you to know that the gospel is not about happiness but righteousness, that you are not prepared to die apart from Christ,” the pastor shared. “It doesn’t matter if you are in socioeconomic status at the very top of that spectrum or the bottom; none of us are prepared to die apart from Christ.

“So I want you to know that you can have purpose in life right now, and you can have eternity right now, if you would just turn from your sins, acknowledge that you need a savior, and place your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ,” he continued. “Wherever you are, whoever you are, and what you will find in that humble decision, if God will be so kind, he would enter into your life through the person of the Holy Spirit, regenerate you, and make you alive.”

Mitchell pastors the 2819 Church in Atlanta, Georgia, which “exists to spread the Gospel and multiply disciples.”

As one who shepherds God’s people, Mitchell has always encouraged people to turn to the Lord.

“Far from perfect, I’m just a broken man who the Lord radically saved out of a life of darkness, trying to do his best to point as many people to Christ as possible,” he wrote in a post on social media. “I’ve missed the mark more times than I can number. I’ve hurt more people than I ever intended. I carry more scars and regrets than my soul can bear. And I’ve shed more tears over souls and the things I’ve come to disdain.

“The more I live, the more I die. And the more I die, the more I live. Selah,” he added. “My deepest desire in this life is to know Christ and make Him known because…TIME IS RUNNING OUT.”

No matter where you may find yourself, God has never left your side. Mitchell encouraged viewers to lean into Christ and put their faith in Him in the midst of hopelessness, because Jesus is the only one who can provide everlasting hope.
