THE CHOSEN’s Giavani Cairo just told Movieguide® about Season 5’s massive achievement.
“It’s incredible. It’s honestly humbling. You know, when Season 5 comes up on THE CHOSEN app, September 28th, it’s gonna be in 50 different languages,” Cairo revealed. “We just got word — it’s a Guinness World record…and it’s incredible. It’s gonna be able to connect so many people from so many different walks of life, in so many different areas at the same time. So, it’s mind-blowing.”
Movieguide®’s Kaelii Williams asked Cairo, “What goes through your mind knowing that something that you were part of has that global effect?

“I think, you know what, Kaelii, as an actor, you dreamed to be a part of something that is this big and means…so, so much to people, and you don’t always get that opportunity,” he explained. “So, you know, when THE CHOSEN first started back in 2018, for a lot of us, this was just a little engine that could; it had a little bit of money to its name, and we could only have the funding for the first four episodes. And I was just grateful to play the disciple Thaddeus on the show and just add some credits to my resume.”
“But it became such a big movement that these writers have made these characters so relatable, and we could see reflections of ourselves in these characters. I think it’s what makes it the show that it is, you know, it’s such a blessing,” he added.
THE CHOSEN recently finished filming Season 6, which was one of the hardest things director, writer and creator Dallas Jenkins has ever done.
“That’s a Season 6 wrap on @jonathanroumieofficial as Jesus. We were brutalized. But it will be worth it,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of him with Jonathan Roumie as Jesus.

Filming was intense for Roumie.
While filming was still underway this summer, he wrote, “There is yet more suffering to endure, not only as my character, but through my own sacrificial offering as an artist to embody and accept every ounce of pain and discomfort associated with the process of making Christ’s own suffering very real to everyone who not only participates in the production, but to those who witness the finished product. I.e., YOU.”
When THE CHOSEN Season 5 first premiered on Prime Video in July, it became the No. 1 series in the United States, and it’s now available on THE CHOSEN app in 50 different languages.
