Atlanta Falcons running back Nathan Carter shared the powerful, faith-filled lesson he learned from a recent episode of THE CHOSEN.
“As I was traveling to Germany this week, I was watching the last season of THE CHOSEN, and I came across a scene where the disciples and the women with Jesus were singing a song called Dayenu,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
Carter explained that Dayenu is sung during the Passover meal in remembrance of “how God delivered them from slavery, parted the Red Sea, and led them by a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.”
“And after each act of God’s faithfulness, they would say Dayenu, if that had been the only thing God had done, it would have been enough,” he continued. “But Dayenu isn’t a history lesson. It’s a song of worship. It’s a song of gratitude. It’s remembering that God Himself is the gift we should long for and adore.”

The NFL player admitted that he “can so easily get caught up in wanting the next thing,” rather than focusing on what God has already done for him, adding, “We treat God like someone we only call on when we want something, and we get so focused on the future that we forget to recognize His faithfulness in the present.”
“So I wonder…what would it look like for us to have our own personal Dayenu? To sit still, look back at our lives, and say: ‘Lord, thank You for what You have done. You didn’t have to do more than that, but You continue to. And that is more than enough,’” he continued.
Carter concluded, “This week, I encourage you to create your own Dayenu. Pause. Remember. Thank Him.”
The football player frequently shares his faith online, posing questions and discussion topics to his many followers.
In one recent post, Carter warned against gossiping, slandering or cursing, writing, “If you use your tongue in ways that do not bring life, then according to Scripture, there is something in your heart that needs to be confessed and repented of. We are called to use our mouths to build others up, to reflect the heart of God, and to lead others to Christ. Our tongues are meant to give life.”
Carter also published a book about his Christian faith, titled, If I’m Not By Your Side: Legacy of Faith and Wisdom for the Next Generation.
“This book has been on my heart for a long time, and I cannot wait to share it with you all!” he posted on Instagram. “I pray that you’ll be encouraged, uplifted, and that hopefully you’ll take away something to share with others — and even pass down to the next generation.”
Carter’s recent post is a reminder to praise God for the blessings He has bestowed upon us, rather than continuously focus on whatever might come next.
