A new documentary will take fans to the real-life places that inspired LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE!
“Get ready to return to the Prairie with us,” Dean Butler, who played Alamanzo Wilder in the popular series, posted on Instagram.

The documentary, titled LITTLE HOUSE HOMECOMING, features Butler, Karen Grassle (Caroline Ingalls), Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson), Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle) and Wendi Lou Lee (Baby Grace).
LITTLE HOUSE HOMECOMING sees the group “travel to the real-life places that inspired Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books — and reconnect with the spirit of LITTLE HOUSE that continues to inspire audiences around the world,” per the documentary’s website.
“Being part of LITTLE HOUSE HOMECOMING has been such a meaningful experience,” Butler’s post continued. “Revisiting these locations, reconnecting with castmates, and celebrating the legacy of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE reminded me just how deeply this story continues to touch people around the world.”
This isn’t the only exciting project LITTLE HOUSE fans have to look forward to. Earlier this year, Netflix announced it produce another series based on Ingalls’ beloved books.
“LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many fans around the world, and we’re excited to share its enduring themes of hope and optimism with a fresh take on this iconic story,” Jinny Howe, vice president of drama series for Netflix, said in a statement.
Production on the show kicked off this summer, with a cast that includes Alice Halsey (LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY), Luke Bracey (ELVIS, HACKSAW RIDGE), Crosby Fitzgerald (PALM ROYALE) and Skywalker Hughes (PAW PATROL, ORDINARY ANGELS).
“I am absolutely thrilled with the brilliant cast we have assembled,” showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Sonnenshine said in a statement. “Each one of them brings something special to the LITTLE HOUSE universe and will help make this story come alive for a whole new generation.”
In a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter, she added, “I fell deeply in love with these books when I was five years old. They inspired me to become a writer and a filmmaker, and I am honored and thrilled to be adapting these stories for a new global audience with Netflix.”
Howe praised Sonnenshine’s vision for the reboot, saying it “threads the needle with an emotional depth that will delight both new and existing fans of this beloved classic.”
From LITTLE HOUSE HOMECOMING’s look at the real-life places that inspired Laura Ingalls Wilder to Netflix’s highly anticipated reboot, it looks like LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE is more popular than ever.
