The Smallbone brothers announced the documentary at the beginning of October, promising it would fill their fans in with the history of the band after they got their start.

“The powerful true story of Joel and Luke Smallbone, the Australian music duo and four-time Grammy Award winners. In this intimate documentary, the Smallbones pull back the curtain on their extraordinary journey from Australia to America, through nearly a decade of failed starts, industry rejections, personal health struggles and navigating the ever-changing world of music,” a description of the documentary reads.

The brothers told the first part of their story in 2024 through the release of UNSUNG HERO where they revealed how their family’s faith held through the most trying time of their lives. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

UNSUNG HERO is a powerful, compelling story of faith and family, told with lots of sincerity and heart. The acting and writing is very good and convincing. UNSUNG HERO has a strong Christian, biblical worldview. The family’s Christian faith is not only clear from their repeated prayers to Jesus to guide and provide for them, but also from their infectious enthusiasm and spiritually uplifting song lyrics.

UNSUNG HERO went on to be recognized by Movieguide® as one of the most inspiring movies of the year and was nominated for the Epiphany prize at our annual Awards Gala. Joel Smallbone won the Grace Prize for the most inspiring movie performance for his role in the movie.

While UNSUNG HERO shone a spotlight on the Smallbone’s parents and their early times in the music industry, FOR KING + COUNTRY: NO TURNING BACK reveals what happened after they went all in to pursue music as a career. The documentary reveals the realities of trying to make it in the industry, and the fact that nobody becomes a star overnight or without trials.

FOR KING + COUNTRY: NO TURNING BACK will be available to stream through the Wonder Project platform on Prime Video starting on Nov. 23.
