Bandmates and brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone added that they are “grateful” to Wonder Project, the studio behind the doc, and to Variety “for getting the word out.”

“for KING + COUNTRY: NO TURNING BACK — our new documentary coming to you soon!” the post finished.

An official synopsis of NO TURNING BACK reads, “The powerful true story of Joel and Luke Smallbone, the Australian music duo and four-time Grammy Award winners. In this intimate documentary, the Smallbones pull back the curtain on their extraordinary journey from Australia to America, through nearly a decade of failed starts, industry rejections, personal health struggles and navigating the ever-changing world of music.”

This isn’t the first time the Smallbones have brought their story to the big screen. Biopic UNSUNG HERO, released in 2024, told the story of the family’s journey to America and through the music industry. Joel, who played the brothers’ father, was awarded Movieguide®’s Grace Prize for his work on the movie.

In an interview with Woman’s World before the movie’s premiere, Joel shared his hopes for what audiences would take away from seeing UNSUNG HERO.

“My hope is that people walk away with fathers saying, ‘I want to be a better dad.’ I hope that mothers are incredibly seen for all the hard work that they do,” he said. “I hope that they see that it matters, that it shapes the next generation.”

Joel continued, “I hope for young kids to see there’s no reason why we can’t dream big dreams, because dreams start in a very vulnerable place, but they can bloom. They can blossom and do something extraordinary. And so my hope is that the family will be infused with great hope.”

Joel is also set to appear in an upcoming Wonder Projects movie, YOUNG WASHINGTON, where he will play William Fairfax, a friend and rival to the future president.

“With YOUNG WASHINGTON, I am honored to be able to show a modern audience what it felt like to be George Washington during such an early and pivotal time in his life: his ambition, his heartbreak, his failures and the events that drove him to become the revered figure we all know,” director Jon Erwin said in a statement.

From historical epics to the upcoming family documentary, it looks like for KING + COUNTRY fans will be seeing a lot of their favorite band on the big screen!
