LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE stars Dean Butler and Karen Grassle shared a sweet reunion where they praised one another and teased a major cast reunion taking place later this year.
“Here with the beautiful Karen Grassle,” Butler, who played Almanzo Wilder, said in the TikTok video. “My goodness, you are a national treasure. [You are] one of America’s most beloved television mothers, you know?”
Though Grassle, who played Caroline Ingalls on LHOP, was humble about Butler’s previous statements, she couldn’t deny the last one, as she had won the TODAY SHOW’s Best TV Mom bracket, beating out Carol Brady in the final.
“I did. I did win this year,” Grassle said. “Did you know they had me come on and interview?”

While on TODAY, Grassle admitted that she had little time to do any research about Caroline Ingalls but knew enough about her to play the part and play it well.
“We went into shooting right after I was cast,” she told the show. “There was no time to be researching Caroline Ingalls as she really was.”
While reunions between LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE cast members are few and far between, they are very fun when they do take place as the cast reflects on their fun times together over 50 years ago.
“When we did the show, we went, ‘Yeah, this is a really good show, Oh, it seems to be a hit, that’s nice.’ But the idea that 50 years later, people would still be excited about it, it’s absolutely mind-blowing,” Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson, said when the cast got together for a 50th anniversary reunion.
“People are finding values, comfort and a message that they long for, and I think, you know, it’s just simple human decency,” Grassle added at the reunion when discussing why she thinks the show has remained so popular for half a century.
The cast is next set to get together for a three day reunion that begins on Dec. 12 which will engage fans with their favorite actors, while also serving as a launch for a new LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE documentary, LITTLE HOUSE HOMECOMING.
“LITTLE HOUSE HOMECOMING journeys with the cast to the real-life spaces and places that Laura [Ingalls Wilder] called home, uniting with fans to form an extended family of love, hope, and belonging. From the Big Woods to the Banks of Plum Creek, the Little Town on the Prairie to Laura’s final home in Missouri and everywhere in between, LITTLE HOUSE HOMECOMING explores the super fans that navigate their Little House journey, the experts making the pilgrimage possible, and the cast that brought the characters to life 50 years ago,” a description for the documentary reads.
As LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE continues to enjoy an incredible legacy, it is fun to see the cast of the show come together to honor and celebrate one another in special ways.
