Kendra Scott combined her love of jewelry and for her home state of Texas in her Yellow Rose lifestyle — a brand that gives back to her community.

A description of the collection says it “serves as a love letter to Texas and the larger American West” and uses “heritage designs and contemporary materials” to put the “modern” cowgirl “front and center.”

“I’m inspired by the wildflowers I see while driving and the sunsets I watch sitting on the ranch,” Scott explained. “I want to celebrate the state that I adore so much.”

The Yellow Rose collection partnered with Nest’s Women of the West fund, a nonprofit that connects “a community of artisans, retailers and philanthropies to bring the full beauty of handcraft to the world.”

While speaking with Southern Living, Scott expressed how she loves to be able to help her community.

“There’s so much power in community, and it can be lonely when you’re starting a business,” Scott told Southern Living of helping up-and-coming artisans. “Being able to create that community within [Nest] is special. I joined an entrepreneurial organization back when starting my brand in Austin, and it was such a relief to be around people going through the same thing.”

“If we can shine a light on people who are doing extraordinary things, we all benefit from being able to see products like this being made and these traditions passed onto the next generation,” she added. “When I started Yellow Rose, I didn’t want it to be just about things I designed, but also to bring other amazing artisans into the business and share their work.”

This year, Scott honored Texas artisans as part of the Heritage Craft Prize. She sponsored the prize for the “finalists in hopes of supporting growth and success.”

“The Prize celebrated artists and craftspeople who are blazing their own trail by reimagining heritage craft techniques through the use of innovative motifs and materials,” Nest wrote for the prize.

“With this partnership, we aim to shine a light on the incredible talent and dedication of these women and empower them to continue with their contributions to their communities,” Scott added in a press release. “We look forward to seeing the inspiring creations that emerge from this partnership and celebrating the stories behind them.”

“I want the next generations to know that they can do amazing things with their own two hands,” she said to Southern Living. “You can make beautiful products that make people feel good, and you can try new things.”

It’s incredible to see Scott pour back into her home state by supporting other artisans.
