When Tyler Hanes, Paul Cambell and Andrew W. Walker filmed THREE WISE MEN AND A BABY in 2022, they could never have imagined just how popular their characters would become or that they would be releasing the third movie three years later.
“We always set out to write humanity, and I think a lot of people see their own families reflected in this Brenner Family,” Campbell told Women’s World. “In particular, the way that we relate, the way that we disagree with one another, the way that we make up, the way that we share, the way that we’re vulnerable.”
“The imperfectness of it all I think is really reflective of just the way that the vast majority of people’s families really are,” he continued. “And maybe there’s comfort in seeing that on the screen and knowing that probably there’s going to be a happy ending.”

This year’s addition to the franchise, THREE WISEST MEN, which released on Nov. 15, was a part of Hallmark’s jam-packed Countdown to Christmas. Much like the Great American Family network, Hallmark has gone all in on Christmas in recent years, providing audiences with family-friendly, uplifting holiday stories starting in October.
The THREE WISE MEN franchise has been a major part of this Hallmark Christmas initiative as it provides viewers with a story emphasizing the importance of our relationships with our family alongside a sweet story. A portion of Movieguide®’s review of the second movie in the franchise, THREE WISER MEN AND A BOY, reads:
THREE WISER MEN AND A BOY has high production values. The script is funny and heartfelt. The three lead actors give wonderful comedic performances. THREE WISER MEN AND A BOY has a strong moral worldview with positive references to Christmas. It stresses kindness, strong relationships with family and friends, and forgiveness. THREE WISER MEN AND A BOY has no violence, foul language or crude content. So, it’s suitable for nearly all ages.
In a season when life is still just as messy as the rest of the year, the franchise also makes a point to show that there is beauty in chaos, especially when it is sought out.
“We keep saying there’s beauty in the mess. If you can just find the beauty, there’s beauty in the mess. That’s the big theme for this one and then I guess secondarily [it] would be moms deserve love, too,” Campbell told Movieguide®. “And that was really important to Kimberly, particularly as a mom to tell that story.”
The movies certainly promote great holiday themes that the entire family can enjoy. THREE WISEST MEN is now available.
