As the floods in Texas ripped through homes and summer camps, Dennis Quaid sat at home, worried for his 17-year-old daughter, Zoe, who was working at a camp.

“Hill County in Texas is a magical place, especially for children going to camp there. It’s a cherished memory you carry with you all your life,” Quaid told Fox News Digital.

Zoe had attended the camp since she was a young girl, and when the night the floods struck, Quaid couldn’t ensure his daughter’s safety.

“I heard about this as I was going to bed that night,” the actor revealed, “and I tried to call her because I knew she was up there. I knew it wasn’t near where the floods were, but I wasn’t able to talk to her till the next day.”

Safe to say, Quaid “didn’t really get a lot of sleep that night.”

For the most part, Zoe and the camp she was at were “relatively safe up there,” however, another girl lost her family.

“One of the girls at that camp lost her whole family who were camping in an RV, I guess, on the Guadalupe River, and they were swept away,” Quaid said.

“I can’t imagine how that would…how devastating that would be,” he added. “We just need to pray for people. You think of those kids that night, and it just chills my heart. Do a lot of praying because there are a lot of people that need to be prayed for still.”

Quaid also mentioned the Kerr Country Flood Relief Fund, a local fundraiser that “supports urgent relief and long-term rebuilding after the devastating floods of July 4, 2025.”

All proceeds from “the Fund will support nonprofit organizations, first responder agencies, and local governments actively involved in response, relief, and recovery efforts. While we are unable to award grants directly to individuals or families, or to fund repairs to private property or replace personal belongings, we are committed to channeling resources to the trusted organizations working tirelessly to help our neighbors in need. Together, we can make a meaningful difference during this challenging time.”

According to US Magazine, Quaid lifted up the Clark Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, and his family in prayer after their 9-year-old cousin Janie died in the floods.

“My heart goes out to everybody [and] my heart goes out to the Hunt family, who are friends of my wife, Laura [Savoie], and I,” the actor said. “Janie Hunt, who was lost that weekend. I can’t imagine…how devastating that would be. None of us can.”

The Hunts are also turning to Christ during this time.

Chiefs heiress, Gracie Hunt, shared on her social media, “My heart aches for our extended family and friends who lost daughters — for every life lost and every family shattered by the floods in Texas. I don’t have easy answers, but I do know this: following Jesus doesn’t spare us from pain — but it means we never face it alone.”

Thankfully, Quaid and his daughter Zoe are okay. Please continue to pray for all of those people impacted by this devastating flood as many remain missing.
