Former Olympic figure skater Scott Hamilton is ready for the Winter Olympics in February.
In a new video shared on his social media pages, Hamilton emphasized not just the importance of athletes but also the importance of coaches.
“February is almost here, and what does that mean? The Olympic Games on NBC,” Hamilton began to say in his best NBC announcer voice.

“The key source to the entire success of the Olympic Games comes down to the relationship between the athlete and the coach, because the coach is the one who guides that athlete to their success,” Hamilton explained. “So many times we see coaches that want to share in that success, that are right there, you know, in skating, in the kiss and cry, that’s leaning into the camera to try to be noticed. ‘As I did this, they didn’t just–I did this.’
“Well, coaches are so important. Coaches are crucial to an athlete’s success, but it’s the athlete who makes it happen,” Hamilton added. “They’re the ones that go out there and put themselves out in front of a couple of billion people watching at any given moment to try to be the one that comes away with the hardware.”
The 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
The hosts for the NBC Winter Olympics 2026 will be “Trenni Casey, Lindsay Czarniak, Carolyn Manno, George Savaricas, and Andrew Siciliano, who also returns as a host of the critically acclaimed Gold Zone whip-around show. The Opening Ceremony of the Milan Cortina Olympic Winter Games is Feb. 6, 2026, on NBC and Peacock,” NBC Sports reported in a press release.
“We are excited to have veterans of multiple Olympics returning to serve as hosts to present the most compelling stories, news, and interviews as we take viewers from event to event throughout the Games,” Rebecca Chatman, Vice President and Coordinating Producer, NBC Olympics Production, said.
Streaming of the Winter Olympics will begin on February 4 with the U.S. curling trials and conclude on February 22 with the Four-Man Bobsled final race, cross-country skiing final race, women’s curling final, and men’s hockey final match.
Hamilton knows the importance of having a coach to help athletes on their journey to the Olympics. The athletes are the ones who go out on the main stage to perform in front of billions of people, but the coaches are the ones who help guide the athletes every step of the way.
