HEARTLAND’s Amber Marshall will join the MURDOCH MYSTERIES’ Season 19 cast as Annie Oakley.
The show is set in early 1900s Toronto, where detective William Murdoch uses radical forensics to solve grisly crimes, TV Insider said.
The show stars Yannick Bisson, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jonny Harris, Lachlan Murdoch, Thomas Craig, Kataem O’Connor, Daniel Maslany, Shanice Banton, Arwen Humphreys and Clare McConnel. Other Season 19 guest stars are Sally Lindsay, Dave Foley, Steven Page and Jason Mewes.
The new season comes out on Acorn TV on March 2, with new episodes every Monday. There will be 21 episodes in total.

Other cases Murdoch will encounter in the new season include a lethal game show, the murder of a fashion mogul, wild animal attacks, a hostage situation and a fight with spies on a speeding train.
In Marshall’s episode, Murdoch and Inspector Brackenreid visit the first Calgary Stampede in 1912. There, they find Annie Oakley. Then, two murders occur, and the three of them jump in to help investigate.
“This experience has been like none other that I’ve ever done. Being able to go back in time and play Annie Oakley is something that really I’d only ever dreamed of doing and now here I am in 1912 in full Annie Oakley gear and it just feels like I’ve been transported back in time,” said Marshall.
“Annie Oakley has always been a woman that I have admired from our past and in fact my mother-in-law’s dogs are named Annie and Oakley, so this runs in the family,” she added. “When I knew I was going to be playing this role, I did a deep dive into the history of Annie Oakley and found out that not only did I think she was a bada** chick, she definitely was.”
This role is a bucket list item for Marshall, who has attended the stampede for the last 20 years.
“And to be able to take part in not only the history of that, but representing it…this is so cool for me,” she continued.
“I was practicing jumping on my horse in a dress. This is something that in 19 years of being on HEARTLAND I’ve never had to think about before, so it’s been really fun and it’s a whole different way of looking at a character and being able to play that persona and really dive into the past,” said Marshall.
Marshall will star as Annie Oakley in episode 10, which comes out on May 4.
