Forrest Frank and Noah Hayden launched a band together in March, but after a legal dispute with the name, the pair want fans’ input to help them rename the project.

“On the heels of a career-defining start to 2026, Forrest Frank is keeping the momentum going with the announcement of a brand new project, Dawn Patrol – a collaborative album created alongside close friend and fellow artist/musician Noah Hayden. The project launches today with the release of its first single, ‘SOS’ …” a press release from March 27 using the band’s old name reads. “A second track, ‘Waste some Time,’ will follow on April 3, building toward the full album release on April 8 – which coincides with Frank’s birthday.”

But after the release of the first song as Dawn Patrol, Frank and Hayden hit a hiccup. Their Instagram page was taken down due to copyright.

“I had seen a comment from someone saying that, like, they had the same artist project, and I screenshotted it and sent it to my management, and they’re like, ‘We’ll have our attorneys reach out to him…it’s all good,’” Frank explained. “There’s a bunch of artists named Dawn Patrol and stuff. So I just kept going because everyone’s telling me that we’re all good.”

“So where I understood it to be was that our attorneys were talking to figure out what it could be, and then in the midst of that, the page is gone,” the singer continued, discussing how the copyright issue impacted the social media page. “So where I stand is this whole thing, this whole project is to serve the Lord and help bring people together in community. So I actually think that this could be a moment where God is wanting to extend that – this is like an extension of that seed.”

Frank went on to announce that he and Hayden were running an open contest for a fan to name the band.

The video he revealed this plan on is now flooded with name ideas from friends and fans alike. Dude Perfect suggested “Salt & Light or First Break,” while Cory Asbury joked “The (Dawn) Police.” Meanwhile fans have suggested “Fourth Watch,” “Up With the Son,” “Chasing Dawn” and “Party Wave.”

While the duo has yet to pick a name or announce when they will do so, Frank affirmed that their album will still release on April 8. Maybe they will choose their new name before then, but either way, it is amazing to see how the bandmates find the good in every situation and use all things to glorify the Lord.
