Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba plans to stay in Seattle for at least another four years, something he’s grateful to God for.

The athlete just signed a contract extension for $168 million, which makes him the highest-paid receiver in the league.

When the contract extension went public, Smith-Njigba took to X and wrote, “I’m here to serve the Lord.”

He told the press, “God is great. I’m super blessed.”

“…it’s a beautiful thing when God puts you in a place to succeed, and this is home for me,” Smith-Njigba continued. “For me to be extended here for a few more years, I’m just excited and blessed and I understand where my feet are and understand the opportunity that’s at stake, and just like always, I’m ready to attack.”

“I have to thank my family, my father, my mother, just how they raised me. I’m here to serve others, serve the Lord, and whatever these guys need from me, they know I’m willing to do,” he emphasized. “There’s not enough words to show my excitement and show my love for the city and this organization, but you’ll see it on Sunday.”

“Ever since I got drafted, I just felt the love and just really just understanding me. It’s an honor to feel that confidence come from your teammates and come from the third floor and your head coach, and for us to get this deal done speaks volumes. Definitely just a little weight off my shoulders just to go out there and let it fly,” the receiver added.

Throughout his time in Seattle, Smith-Njigba has always shared his faith in God.

“Jesus won today. No matter what would have happened, Jesus won. Give all the glory to Him,” he declared after the Seahawks won the Super Bowl in February.

Later in the post-game press conference, the receiver commented again on his faith and the importance it played in his season.

“Man, you’ve got to have faith. You’ve got to believe in God. You’ve got to give it to Him,” he explained. “And you know, you’re going to get battle-tested. There’s going to be ups, there’s going to be downs, nobody can move you. Nobody can change you. You have to believe in what you believe in and stand tall on that and never waver, and you know, have faith, man. Your faith has to be there, and it’s been a blessing.”

“When bad things happen, good things happen, you’ve got to use that to be a world champ, and you’ve got to believe that you’re a world champ before you’re a world champ, and it’s amazing,” he added.

As Smith-Njigba looks ahead at his future in Seattle, his record-breaking contract is more than just a testament to his talent — it’s a reflection of his faith and the plan God has for his life.
