Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba couldn’t help but praise God for Seattle’s Super Bowl LX win.

“Jesus won today. No matter what would have happened, Jesus won. Give all the glory to Him,” the athlete said in a clip on his Instagram live on Sunday night.

In the post-game press conference, Smith-Njigba discussed how his faith helped him get to that moment.

“Man, you’ve got to have faith. You’ve got to believe in God. You’ve got to give it to Him,” he said. “And you know, you’re going to get battle-tested. There’s going to be ups, there’s going to be downs, nobody can move you. Nobody can change you. You have to believe in what you believe in and stand tall on that and never waver, and you know, have faith, man. Your faith has to be there, and it’s been a blessing.”

“When bad things happen, good things happen, you’ve got to use that to be a world champ, and you’ve got to believe that you’re a world champ before you’re a world champ, and it’s amazing,” the wide receiver added.

He shared that praying before the game helped ease his nerves.

“It’s great, man. Jesus is everything. And you know, when I put it on His shoulders, you know, He takes it off my shoulders. And He never fails me. He’s never failed me. Whether we would have won or lost today, you know, Jesus won, and I’m just happy to give Him the glory today,” he explained.

Smith-Njigba, who entered the NFL after the 2023 Draft, developed a friendship with NFL veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp this season.

“The friendship has been really special,” Kupp said while at Super Bowl LX media availability. “I’ve really enjoyed just getting to know the person.”

Not only do the two play the same position, but they share the same faith.

“Trust in [the Lord],” Kupp told Sports Spectrum during media availability. “Trust Him because He knows what’s best.”

He also spoke about how God brought him to the Super Bowl.

“Hearing lies and things that are spoken over you and into your life [has been tough],” Kupp explained. “For me, the faith that I have, the belief that I have — I have this belief that the things I was doing were for a greater purpose than myself, and that there was a point behind it. The joy that I felt playing this game — just because it felt like I was just made to do it, and being able to glorify God through that — that is gonna make it all worth it. It sustained me through all the highs and all the lows. Truly wouldn’t be here today without it. The end is written already, and I just need to go out there and glorify God.”

It’s incredible to see champions like Smith-Njigba and Kupp use their platform to point fans to God.
