Renowned singer Andrea Bocelli reflected on his deep faith ahead of Easter and Holy Week.
“In prayer, we stop speaking and begin to listen — and in that silence, we feel less alone. I have learned to think of faith as a compass rather than a map: it keeps us oriented, reminds us who we are, and points us in the right direction, without tracing the path for us,” he wrote on social media. “And above all, it trains us in the difficult and sublime art of surrender — trusting in something greater than ourselves, and in the people who walk beside us.”
He added, “There are five mathematical operations. The fifth is not studied; it is learned together. It is called cooperation — but also trust, care, friendship. And it is the only one for which 1 + 1 is always more than 2.”

As a Catholic, Bocelli believes there are two ways to pray.
He said on the “Jesus Calling” podcast, “one, which fits me more, is praying to heaven. It’s an intimate and interior conversation, and I must say that I have it quite often. Then there’s the traditional prayer that you recite and you can have it in the way you consider more proper: on your knees, inside, in your bedroom, and it’s a very important moment that — and this is a public confession — I do less than I should.”
His faith is a “priceless gift” he always carries with him.
“Whoever has this same gift improves their own life and the world around them,” he explained in 2024. “I believe that having faith means believing in the power of good, and at every crossroad choosing the road that leads to it.”
“When we touch our spiritual chords, we create a bridge across which to access, at any time and in all simplicity, what is hidden behind the veil of everyday life,” he said. “Personally, when I interpret a holy song or one that is spiritually elevated, I experience it as a form of prayer.”
