NBA veteran and Wisconsin legend Frank Kaminsky never knew he could love so deeply until he had his first child.
“Like the miracle of childbirth, from conception to where we are now…It’s like you see this little tiny blob on the screen. You know, when you’re just looking at this little thing on the screen, and now it grows into this person with so much personality. You can see when your kid is born, how much love and wonderment and passion they have for the world. It’s like the purest thing you can see,” Kaminsky said on the “Sports Spectrum” podcast.

He doesn’t understand how people can deny that God plays a role in children coming into the world.
“And it’s like all those people out there, I feel like, that kind of deny, you know, the miracle of childbirth, and that, like, God has a role in it, like there’s no other way that it could have been in my eyes,” he shared. “Now, having gone through and witnessed and, obviously, as a father, like the love you didn’t know you can experience, like the deep levels of love that you have within you until you have your first kid.”
“And I feel like that was a big thing for me, too. He has softened me up in such a big way and opened my heart to so many things,” the former NBA player added. “It’s like, I don’t want to let my kids struggle for like 10 seconds, let alone at anything. It’s just like this role as a father in a protector, and you just kind of want to now pass everything you know that’s good and great onto your son.”
“And it’s just very cool. People always tell you to just wait. Like, you’ll see for yourself. And it is the most true thing I’ve ever witnessed firsthand. It’s just incredible,” he added.
Kaminsky and his wife, Ashley Brewer Kaminsky, welcome their son, Frankie IV, last year. His parents simply adore him.
“He is the light of our lives and pure joy every day. We are so beyond blessed and grateful to God for this perfect gift!” Ashley wrote on Instagram in January.
Like Kaminsky, anyone who’s become a parent knows that it only deepens the capacity for love and strengthens our faith, as we see our children as a reminder of God’s presence and purpose in life.
