Christian Hip-Hop Star Followed God’s Voice. Then This Happened.

Christian hip-hop artist 1K Phew knows the importance of living for God despite being in the spotlight.

“I’ve been strengthening my relationship with God, strengthening my relationship with my family, my wife and kids. Just getting my priorities together,” he told RELEVANT Magazine of keeping his priorities straight, adding, “I’ve just been trying to stay on the straight and narrow.”

As 1K Phew grew as an artist and found his own sound, more than anything, he believes his music reflected where he genuinely was in life.

“It started to feel like it. I was just starting to create and starting to make great music, great messages,” he said.

1K Phew knows that he’s one of many Christian artists sharing “great messages.” He believes in the importance of uniting with other artists to spread a greater message.

“I think it was very important for us to show the world how Christians come together for a bigger purpose,” he emphasized. “We might not all be friends, but we’re definitely family.”

The artist admitted that when he first stepped into the music scene, he felt out of place, but soon, God led him to his own special calling in the entertainment industry.

“When I first came into Christian hip-hop, I really felt an exception. I felt like I didn’t belong,” he admitted. “When God gave you a call, it wasn’t a conference call.”

He later added, “I thank God that we didn’t give up and we didn’t quit. I think in a few years, we’re gonna be running the music game. It’s an army on the rise for sure.”

1K Phew explained that his place in life today comes from an encounter he had with God in 2014, before the fame. “I heard God say, ‘Either you’re gonna live for me or you’re gonna die and go to jail,’” he recalled.

Last month, 1K Phew dropped his newest album, Any Given Sunday.

“This album is all about showing up, no matter the odds,” he said. “I wanted to create something real — music that people can feel every day of the week.”

In an interview, he described his album as a “summer soundtrack” and something to “move to.” One song titled “MOVE IT!” features none other than Forrest Frank alongside 1K Phew.
