As Virgin River’s residents reel from the death of Calvin, Mel and Jack adjust to life as newlyweds. However, their honeymoon pauses — the medical board investigates Mel and the town’s clinic following Doc’s lifesaving treatment of Henry. She and Mayor Hope realize Grace Valley leads the investigation, as they plan to open a clinic of their own in Virgin River.

Mel also manages Marley, who searches for a new set of parents for her baby after the couple she planned to let adopt her child withdraw. Meanwhile, Jack tends to two new horses he inherits — with the help of a mysterious new stranger who arrives in town.
