SNL star Kenan Thompson is adding a new line to his resume; the comedian just published a children’s book, titled “Unfunny Bunny.”
“I love the kids’ space. Having grown up in the kids’ world, it’s a lot of fun, and it’s a happy place to be creative,” he told Parents, referring to his past as a child star on Nickelodeon shows like ALL THAT and KENAN & KEL. “The book just seemed like a natural creative venture that wouldn’t be necessarily overly complicated. It could just be a side bucket of fun.”
Thompson might have a busy schedule, but the actor said he loves being “on deck” for his daughters, Georgia, 11, and Gianna, 7.
“When I’m not at work, I’m just Captain Uber, like where do you gotta go?” he joked. “Or can we please have dinner? Kids are so busy; it’s wild scheduling time to spend with them.”
So, how do his daughters feel about “Unfunny Bunny?”

“My big girl, she’s in middle school now, so it’s getting very serious. But she thought it was adorable. That was a big pat on the back,” Thompson said. “My little one adores it, too.”
This isn’t the only project Thompson is putting out into the children’s entertainment space. He and longtime friend and collaborator Kel Mitchell just announced Orange Pop!, a free-to-play mobile game, featuring puzzles to solve and voice performance from Thompson and Mitchell.
“Kel and I have spent our careers creating things that bring people together through laughter, and Orange Pop! is another way to do that,” Thompson said in a statement. “This isn’t just putting our names on a game. We wanted to create something that captures the energy, humor and friendship people have connected with for years while also building something new for the next generation of fans.”
Mitchell added, “Orange Pop! is fun, colorful and captures the spirit that’s always been part of KENAN & KEL. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or you’re discovering us for the first time, we hope people have a blast playing it.”
The comedic duo are also preparing to return to the big screen with KENAN & KEL MEET FRANKENSTEIN, a horror-comedy that sees Mitchell and Thompson play delivery drivers who end up at a spooky castle and accidentally awaken Frankenstein’s monster.
“Kel and I have always loved finding new ways to work together, and this project felt like the perfect mix of nostalgia, comedy, and something completely unexpected,” the SNL star said. “We’re excited to bring a fresh take on a classic monster story and have some fun doing it.”
From fun new movies and mobile games to his new book, it looks like Mitchell is excited to start making more content for children.
