Jillian Murray and husband Dean Geyer are about to become first-time parents!
“For a few days, I had this really intense congestion that came completely out of the blue. I initially thought I was having some kind of allergic reaction to something in the hotel,” Murray told PEOPLE of finding out she was pregnant. “Out of curiosity, I ChatGPT’d it and learned that the surge in pregnancy hormones can cause swelling in the nasal passages.”
The actress, who was filming a Great American Family Christmas movie at the time, “took a test before my call time, and I was completely stunned.”
“Keeping that news to myself while continuing to film was incredibly difficult. It felt surreal walking onto set, knowing something so life-changing, and not being able to share it yet,” Murray continued.

The actress said her pregnancy was an “unexpected surprise” but shared, “We had waited a long time to start a family because I honestly didn’t feel ready before…We really just felt that it was in God’s hands that whatever was meant to be would be and no pressure either way. I think that mindset has made this experience feel even more special.”
Murray added, “I feel so blessed to work with a network like Great American Family during this next chapter in my life because they prioritize family above all else. I get to make incredible movies that I’m proud to share with my little one in the future.”
The actress has previously spoken about how important it is to her to make uplifting and family-friendly content.
While appearing at this year’s Movieguide® Awards Gala, Murray said it’s “an honor” to tell stories of hope and faith, continuing, “I don’t take a day for granted.”
In a 2025 interview with Movieguide®, she said, “I think people really, really want feel good movies in their life. I think there’s, like, a lot of movies that are on other things, like Netflix and other streamers, that are just so heavy.”
Murray continued, “This is why we really need Great American Family…You don’t wanna waste two hours of your night, your precious hours with your family, to watch a movie…Going into, like, Great American…you’re not gonna have this, like, depressing energy at the end of the night. You’re going to leave going, oh, I kind of knew…I don’t know; I think there’s something about that that makes you feel better.”
From becoming a first-time mom to promoting family-friendly content, Murray is committed to putting family first.
