Country star and former AMERICAN IDOL winner Carrie Underwood loves her life as a farm dweller, wife and mom to two boys.
“When I’m away [for work], I’m like Cinderella at the ball,” Underwood told Us Weekly. “I’m a princess, and it’s great. And then I come home, and I’m covered in dirt [and] poop.”
“It’s just the polar opposite. I’m cleaning up after everybody and barefoot in the kitchen,” she said, adding, “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, share a 400-acre farm in rural Tennessee.
“Carrie loves life on the farm — growing vegetables, caring for animals and teaching her kids to do the same,” said an insider. “She loves her career and creating and performing, but as she has said, that’s not her real life. Her real life is at home with her family.”
The insider added that she loved her Las Vegas residency, but she was ready for a break and wanted to be home with her family.

“As supportive as he is of her career, [Fisher] is a guy who wants normalcy,” the insider said. “They are a very traditional couple living a not-so-traditional life.”
One of their biggest challenges has been managing their careers and schedules. Fisher is a former NHL player who co-founded a hunting brand, Catchin’ Deers.
“That has been the biggest struggle they have faced in their relationship, balancing their careers and paths, and letting each other pursue the things that make them happy while supporting each other and staying grounded as a couple. In the earlier years of their marriage,” the insider added, “there was a lot of compromising.”
The insider said Underwood gets a lot of joy out of her boys and being outdoors in her garden.
“They travel with her and see her performing in front of huge crowds, but they know that’s not reality,” they said about Underwood’s sons. “They may not live average, typical lives, but when they’re home in Tennessee, things are as close to normal as it gets.”
Underwood and Fisher make it a priority to raise their children in faith.
A few years ago, Fisher shared a recording of his youngest son, Jacob, praying.
“A childlike faith! There’s something so sweet about kids praying!” Fisher wrote in the caption. “Jake wanted to pray on the way to school today!”
“To be honest he doesn’t usually want to pray but I’ve been encouraging him lately that as Christians we talk to Jesus and thank Him and give him praise! Parenting has its challenges but it is also incredibly rewarding at the same time!” he wrote.
In 2015, Underwood shared how she wanted to raise her son, Isaiah. Jacob was not born until 2019.
“Mike and I talk about teaching him how to approach everybody in a loving way, even if they’re not the same, and to try to say, ‘You know what? God loves them, so it should be my job to do my best to love them as well,’” she said.
Being ultra-famous while balancing a family can’t be easy. We’re glad that Underwood and Fisher are devoted to each other and have their priorities right.
