Kristen Bell, who voiced Anna in FROZEN and will voice Amy Rose in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4, recently gave fans a sneak peek into her recording process.
“In the booth for @sonicmovie,” the actress captioned a photo of herself inside the recording studio. “#AmyRose is coming to life!”
She also tagged Ben Schwartz, who voices Sonic in the movies and said, “Wish you were here!!!”
Schwartz shared the post to his Insta story with the caption, “Aaaaaaammmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!”
On May 27, Schwartz shared a selfie with the director and editor with the caption, “Voice records for SONIC 4 have begun! I. Am. So. Excited. For. You. To. See. This. Movie.”
The director, Jeff Fowler, recently boasted the project has wrapped live production and will be “the BEST Sonic Movie yet.”

THR reported that other stars include Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, Idris Elba as Knuckles and Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Jim Carrey, James Marsden and Tika Sumpter will perform live characters. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara will produce.
SONIC 3 came out in 2024 and made over $490 million globally.
SONIC 4 will come out on March 19, 2027, per Screen Rant. We don’t have any official plot confirmation yet, but Paramount Picture’s teaser says, “You think your world is safe. But time is about to run out. The chaos has only just begun.”
Bell’s character, Amy Rose, was first introduced in “Sonic CD” as a damsel in distress kidnapped by Metal Sonic. The teaser trailer also includes a rendition of the Sonic CD’s iconic theme song, “Sonic Boom.”
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 writer Pat Casey said, “We did talk long and hard about including [Amy] in movie three, actually, before ultimately, we all sort of decided that there just wasn’t quite enough room to do her justice and Shadow justice.” SONIC 4 is her time to shine.
Insider account @MyTimeToShineHello previously posted on X that “SONIC 4 will have time travel.” In the games and comics, Sonic’s growth of speed lets him move “beyond the typical flow of time.” Time travel is also an element in Sonic CD.
“If Sonic’s speed unlocks time-travel powers, he could find himself in a future filled with advanced threats and alternate versions of familiar characters,” Mandatory suggested.
In SONIC 3’s post-credit scene, a Metal Sonic, a classic villain from the games, and Amy Rose appear in a flurry of blue lightning and smoke, which mirrors THE TERMINATOR’s time-travel sequence. This could be a hint that the fourth movie could adapt the 1993 game Sonic CD, where Sonic travels through time to stop Dr. Robotnik, Mandatory reported.
Fans won’t have to wait too long to see SONIC 4; its release date is less than a year out.
