COLLEGE

What You Need To Know:

COLLEGE is the story of three high school seniors, Kevin, Carter and Morris, who visit a college over the weekend and learn how to be involved in debauchery. Kevin’s girlfriend, Gina, dumps him because he’s too “normal” and boring. To prove her wrong, he proceeds to drink and party wildly while at a college trip for seniors. With help from his new girlfriend, Kendall, he discovers that his “normal,” responsible ways are better than the ways of partying.

This movie is very disturbing, partly because of the message that is given concerning what college is supposedly to be about. The movie portrays drinking to excess, using drugs, and casual sex, including homosexuality, as a normal, expected part of college life. COLLEGE also contains depicted sex and constant sexual discussion. Women appear topless, and there is rear male nudity multiple times and brief rear female nudity. The characters drink heavily and get drunk. Part of the hazing of the characters involves them cleaning up vomit, used condoms, and cleaning clogged toilets; and, this is supposed to be the funny part. COLLEGE isn’t very funny, nor does it have anything much worthwhile.

Content:

(PaPaPa, HoHo, C, LLL, VV, SSS, NN, AAA, DD, MM) Extremely pagan worldview with strong homosexual elements, though with a slight redemptive message; at least 150 obscenities, seven strong profanities and six light profanities, plus “finger” given by man, vulgar word painted on car, scatological “comedy” with animal dung and cleaning stopped up toilets; characters kidnapped for fraternity hazings, two characters duct taped naked to statue in suggestive pose, characters shot randomly with paint gun, characters in fist fight; very strong sexual content includes three scenes of depicted sexual relations among college kids, multiple scenes of couples including male and lesbians involved in kissing and fondling, much discussion of sex, separately male and female characters pleasure themselves, a lesbian sexual encounter is overheard but not shown, man finding a “sex toy” is overheard, “body shots” where alcohol is drunk from the body of a man; many instances of upper male and female nudity, rear male and female nudity; much drinking and drunkenness; smoking of cigarettes and marijuana; and, lewd gestures, humiliating hazing, theft, lying, revenge, getting fake IDs, and general debauchery.

More Detail:

COLLEGE is the story of three high school seniors who visit a college over the weekend and learn to be involved in debauchery.

Kevin, Carter and Morris are best friends. Kevin’s girlfriend dumps him because he’s too “normal” and their senior year is supposed to be about partying. To prove her wrong, he proceeds to drink and “to party” wildly while at the college trip for seniors. He angers members of a sordid fraternity, and they begin to haze the seniors and disrupt Kevin’s newfound romance. Through the help of the new girlfriend, Kevin discovers that his “normal,” responsible ways are better than the ways of partying.

As a movie, apart from the content, the production values are well made and well paced. The script is well written and plotted. The characters, while not endearing, are played well. Drake Bell as Kevin is especially strong, though it’s extremely disheartening to see an actor associated with kid TV shows on Nickelodeon in an R-rated movie of this nature.

This movie is very disturbing in part by the message that is given as to what college is supposedly to be about. The message of the movie portrays drinking, drugs, and casual sex, including homosexuality, to be just a normal, expected part of college life.

COLLEGE contains depicted sex and constant sexual discussion. Women appear topless, and there is rear male nudity multiple times and female rear nudity once.

The characters also drink heavily. Part of the hazing of the characters involves them cleaning up vomit, used condoms, and stopped up toilets; and, that is supposed to be the funny part. The foul language count is also extreme, over 100 instances.

One minor positive element is that Kevin chooses to not continue his hedonistic ways and return back to the “normal Kevin” which includes being responsible and the school photographer. However, the close of the movie has Kevin considering visiting a new college next weekend.

COLLEGE isn’t funny, nor does it have anything much worthwhile.
