SONS OF THUNDER: REDEMPTION is the epitome of 2 Corinthians 5:17, that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.
Season 1 (2022), streaming on PureFlix, shows how Jesus changes people from the inside out. Each six of the half-hour episodes endorses a Christian biblical worldview as the show’s focal character, Jacob Lewis, sets out to show and tell his life-changing conversion to Christ, experienced during a Texas prison sentence. Upon his release from prison, and simultaneous escape from his former membership in a notorious motorcycle club, The Devil’s Hand, Jacob rides off to California on his Harley to start a life of this second chance Jesus has given him. First thing on his bucket list? Asking forgiveness and making amends of the person he had emotionally hurt the most before his sentencing, Sandy Harding.
Despite the COVID-19 restrictions, Swanson said that she loved working with the cast and crew.
“It couldn’t have been better,” Swanson told Fox News Digital. “I genuinely loved everyone that I worked with, both the cast and crew. Everybody was fantastic.”
“Working under COVID rules with wearing masks, getting tested and all that – it can make it difficult to meet other people and get to really know one another,” she added. “But we all got along really well. The cast was really special and loving. They were great communicators, and we were just excited to work together on this ranch. It was really a special experience, and I think it shows on screen.”
While Pure Flix hosts content filled with faith and family-friendly elements, the former BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER actress said she is thankful for options.
“I think there could be more of a balance, you know? I mean, look, I’m 52. I grew up watching family-friendly shows like LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE and THE WALTONS,” she explained. “But I also watched ALL IN THE FAMILY. And even then, the message was clear on the show, which was how not to behave. There was more of a balance, and the message was always clear. Things have definitely changed over time.”
“I’m really glad we have a streaming service like Pure Flix where it offers more family-friendly programming. And look, I’m an actor and I make movies, but I don’t like horror or scary stuff,” she continued. “I’m not really into that. If my son and husband are watching that, I’ll go do laundry or something. I know it’s all art and as someone watching, you can pick and choose what you want to watch. But I also appreciate the fact that there are options out there.”
Swanson said that she hopes families can enjoy SONS OF THUNDER: REDEMPTION together.
“I just hope people have a good time. It’s one of those shows where the family can gather around, have some pizza and watch it together. And it’s got a really good cast. It’s truly a fun ride, but it’s also very real and honest. There’s definitely more to come, and I can’t wait for it,” she said.
