Chris Hemsworth said the latest season of LIMITLESS: LIVE BETTER NOW forced him to “confront and think about things,” pushing him way out of his comfort zone.

“All the experiences in life, on a set, in this documentary, add to the toolbox,” he told TV Insider of the Disney+ docuseries. “The more I know about me, the more I can understand about a character. This experience forced me to confront and think about things I would’ve avoided. New adventures add layers when creating a character that help build something authentic and truthful.”

In Season 2 of LIMITLESS, Hemsworth traveled around the world to take part in activities that challenged him, from training with the South Korean special forces to playing drums onstage at an Ed Sheeran concert in front of thousands of fans.

“This was about diving into my fears and insecurities,” the THOR actor explained. “This season was more of an introspective personal journey. I had more perspective around the subjects and [did] research. It was challenging, but I felt like I had something to offer rather than standing there like an imposter.”

Hemsworth shared that the drumming experience was one he would definitely want to repeat, but in an exclusive clip shared with NME, his drumming teacher Ben Jordan wasn’t so sure the actor could do it the first time around.

“I’m slowly realising Chris doesn’t have much innate drumming rhythm,” Jordan jokes in the clip. “It’s pretty hard to find something he’s bad at, but I think we’ve found it.”

While Hemsworth got to do plenty of exciting things in this season of LIMITLESS, he revealed there was one stunt Disney nixed.

“I was going to attempt to surf a 40-foot wave and train with big wave specialists, but we couldn’t get it through the ranks,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “The risk assessment, basically, was too far gone, so I ended up climbing a 200-meter dam wall [in episode 3, shot in the Swiss Alps].”

Hemsworth continued, “They both have a fair amount of risk attached to them, but [the dam climb] got past the risk assessment team. So there definitely was [concern from above]: ‘No, we need him to go off and shoot THOR next. We can’t have him drown while filming a big wave episode.’”

Movieguide® gave LIMITLESS a -2 content score. Part of the review reads:

Season two of LIMITLESS: LIVE BETTER NOW is well-shot and contains positive messages regarding teamwork, listening to other people and thanking one’s family. The episodes are shot beautifully, contain excellent color grading and top-tier camera work. Each episode boasts such a high production value that it could easily be mistaken for a real movie at an independent film festival. However, there are numerous scenes of extreme stunts, mild violence and moderate cussing. Furthermore, one episode explores Buddhist philosophy of tolerating physical pain. MOVIEGUIDE® recommends caution for older children and their families.

Season 2 of LIMITLESS takes Hemsworth around the world, facing his fears and trying new things. The new episodes premiere on Disney+ and Hulu Aug. 15.
