Former University of Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson wants you to ask yourself perhaps the most important question: “Where are you going when you die?”
“If I die tomorrow, I know where I’m going,” the athlete declared in an “Access The Walk” podcast. “I have full confidence knowing where I’m going. So that’s how I see it, as everybody, like you said, you know that we’re His children, and you know we’re here to spread His word because of what He did. But at the same time, if you know the Lord Jesus comes back tomorrow, and like in Revelation, and the earth dissolves like that, I know what’s going to happen. The question is, do you?”
Simpson emerged early this past season as one of the best quarterbacks in college football. When asked where he gets his confidence from, he immediately pointed to Christ.
“First off, I get my confidence from the Lord,” Simpson said after Alabama beat Wisconsin in September. “I pray before every game. I pray every morning before I go into the building — to thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity to play at the University of Alabama, but also to give me wisdom and strength and just make sure I do everything the way He wants me to do it.”

As Simpson prepared to become the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide, he leaned on one Bible verse: Micah 5:5.
The verse reads, “And he will be our peace when the Assyrians invade our land and march through our fortresses. We will raise against them seven shepherds, even eight commanders.”
“I kind of take that approach of just before I step on the field, just taking a little second and praying and taking a breath,” he said on the “Hey Coach” radio show, per AL.com. “Just being like, ‘He’s with me in whatever situation happens, He’s going to be beside me and I’m excited for it.’ Even on the practice field, understanding He’s with me wherever I go.”
Simpson declared for the 2026 NFL Draft early in January, “giving up his final year of eligibility with the Crimson Tide,” per Sports Illustrated. The outlet said he joins a “fairly shallow quarterback prospect pool” but added that his “uneven season” as Alabama’s quarterback spotlighted some issues with his play.
Simpson’s career is a testimony to his faith, and no matter what happens next, he’s sure to keep pointing his fans to Christ.
