Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard used the NFL combine as an opportunity to share about his faith in Jesus Christ.
“So, I mean, I just wanted to find new ways to be able to glorify God, you know,” Bernard said at the NFL Combine. “What He has blessed me to do. And so, like, I know Ryan was wearing the eye strips, and I’m like, ‘Okay, well, this is another way that I can show people who Christ is and what Christ is doing within my life.'”
Bernard also uses eye black to share Christ with the world. He wrote “Psalm 91” on his eye black when Alabama played Georgia.
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust,” the first two verses of the Psalm read.

“And so, you know, on a week-to-week basis, I read certain chapters and certain verses and whatnot,” the wide receiver continued. “But ultimately, I just know I pray and ask God to put on my heart whatever He wants me to put out to other people, what message He wants me to spread, and that’s how He guides me through that.”
“And so when it may be a day before a game, or maybe, you know, earlier in the week, that He puts it on my heart. And so, I mean, that’s how I go about that,” Bernard said.
After every game, Bernard signs all of his autographs with “God Bless,” and he praises God after every touchdown.
“I know that my purpose is to impact as many people as I can with the platform that I have,” Bernard said on “The Next Round Podcast.” “I’m just trying to give glory to God because he blessed me to play this game of football.”
After Alabama lost to Indiana in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl, Bernard still took the time to glorify God because he knows that in the wins and losses, God is still good.
“I just want to give glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for allowing us to have this opportunity, for allowing this team to be here together in California and to enjoy this moment,” the athlete said, per Fox News Digital. “Even though it didn’t go the way we wanted it to, there’s still a lot to be grateful for.”
It’s incredible to see Bernard use the platform God has given him to share his faith.
