Angel Studios’ upcoming “inspirational thriller,” titled THE OLD MAN IN THE DUNES, cast DARK NIGHT and MIDWAY’s Aaron Eckhart as Harold, its lead.
“THE OLD MAN IN THE DUNES is a gripping tale of truth, guilt, and redemption set against the haunting beauty of California’s coastal dunes,” an official logline of the film reads. “When Elias, a reclusive man of quiet faith, is wrongfully accused of a boy’s murder, his world is upended. As a local public defender named Harold takes on the case, both men confront their own pasts, the weight of community judgment, and the hope of something greater.”
“What begins as a fight for justice becomes a deeper journey of healing — one that reveals the power of forgiveness, the strength found in faith, and the freedom that comes from facing the truth,” the logline concluded.
Christian Guiton wrote and will direct THE OLD MAN IN THE DUNES and shared why the movie is so important.
“THE OLD MAN IN THE DUNES has been part of my family’s story for nearly a century, and it’s a dream come true to finally bring it to life,” Guiton told The Hollywood Reporter. “With Aaron Eckhart leading the cast, a raw and emotional approach to the storytelling, and the incredible support of Angel, we’re excited to create something both gritty and hopeful. I’m beyond grateful for the team that’s making this dream a reality.”
In a post on his Instagram, Guiton added, “I’m incredibly proud to officially announce that we’ve partnered with @angelstudios_inc to develop my feature film THE OLD MAN IN THE DUNES. Filming begins later this year, with a theatrical release expected in 2026!
“This story is deeply personal and unlike anything I’ve ever done. Grateful to everyone who believed in this project from the beginning. Can’t wait to share more soon.”
“Also special shoutout to my incredible partner, producer/manager @nolimolla for believing in this project 2 years ago when I sent you the first draft of the script. Time to get to work,” Guiton concluded.
Mark Holder and Noli Molla will for Wonder Street, along with Jacques Abrahamian.
Filming will take place in the United States, and Pia Patatian’s Cloud9 Studios will handle any international sales. Patatian will also pitch the film to Cannes in hopes of having the film premiere there.
With this inspirational, faith-centered movie in the works, Angel Studios hopes another box office hit like SOUND OF FREEDOM and THE KING OF KINGS is on its way.
