Country Christian artist Anne Wilson takes her position as a role model for her young fans seriously.

“Have there been times for you that you’ve felt you have to live like this, picture-perfect image, and you can’t mess up, and if you do, there’s shame associated with that?” Savannah Chrisley asked Wilson on her “Unlocked With Savannah Chrisley” podcast.

The singer responded, “Yeah, definitely. I mean, especially being, you know, a role model to these little girls. A lot of moms tell me that concerts like, you’re my daughter’s idol or my daughter’s role model, and that can be pressure.”

“You know, I’m only 23, so trying to be someone’s role model as a 23-year-old is a lot of pressure,” Wilson admitted. “But I’ve learned over the last couple of years through counseling, like just how to not let that get to me, and how to take that as a compliment.”

“I want to be a role model, but I’m also a 23-year-old, and I’m going to make mistakes, I’m going to fall short, and ultimately, I’m going to do the best I can to be a good role model, but I also have to be a 23-year-old,” she said. “I have to live my life, and so I kind of have to find the balance of that, because, like, no human being can live under that kind of pressure.”

“That’s how a lot end up just like combusting. It’s so easy to get lost in who you’re told to be versus who you actually are,” Chrisley added.

Wilson just wrapped up the first part of her Stars Tour and loved getting to meet her fans.

“I loved meeting each and every one of you and hearing your stories and testimonies,” she wrote on Instagram. “I still find me pinching myself to make sure this is real life. I can’t believe I get to call this my ‘job’ and that this was my third headlining tour.”

“Thank you to every single one of you who spent your hard-earned money to buy a ticket to come to one of these shows,” she added. “It means the world to me, and I’m so grateful for you all. I pray you experienced the presence & comfort of Jesus every single night and walked away with hope and abundant joy. The same God that created the stars created YOU & loves you so deeply.”

She’ll head back on tour in March.

While growing up with a platform isn’t easy, Wilson handles her position as a role model to young girls with grace and perspective, pointing them back to Christ.
