Unlikely Collab Results in Powerful Version of This Worship Hit

A new version of Brandon Lake’s powerful call to worship is on its way next month, and his collaborator has the testimony to support the lyrics.
Lake teamed up with country and rap star Jelly Roll for an updated rendition of Lake’s “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”
The song, which debuted in November 2024, topped charts almost immediately, hitting No. 1 on the Christian/Gospel Songs Chart, the Christian/Gospel On-Demand Audio Streaming and Christian/Gospel On-Demand Overall Streaming charts and the All-genre Digital Song Sales chart, the Christian Beat reported. It beat Lake’s previous record for the “largest debut streaming week for a single released by a Christian genre artist.”
A video announcing the collaboration captured the singers’ passion as they sing, “I’ll bring my hard-fought heartfelt / Been-through-hell hallelujah / I’ll bring my storm-tossed, torn-sail / Story to tell hallelujah.”
The new version will release Feb. 7, and fans can’t wait.
“The combo I never saw coming but it is much needed 😭❤️” one user commented. Another person added, “The lord gon’ use this one right here 🔥”
“I wanted to give my fans a taste of something special while on the road,” Lake said of the song, per CCM Magazine. “This song is about the battles we face, the grit throughout the fight for faith and the praise that comes after. I hope it resonates deeply with everyone.”
The message certainly resonates with Jelly Roll. The singer often speaks about the struggles — including jail time and drug abuse — that he’s overcome.
“If I could describe my entire message in one word, it would simply be hope,” he told Variety last year. “That’s it, man. I’m just giving people hope, dude. I’m giving people the reality that things can change, if you are willing to change it.”
