Country singer Craig Morgan recently reflected on the feelings he had surrounding his recent promotion in the Army Reserves.
“Two things: humility. I was honored beyond anything,” he told Fox News. “And hopes that people would recognize the pride that we have in our nation and our uniform as servicemembers. My objective is always to properly represent everyone else who [doesn’t] get that opportunity.”
Morgan added, “The only place that [pride and humility] are well-balanced are in the military.”

The singer reenlisted in the Army Reserve in 2023 at 59. He just was promoted to chief warrant officer two (CW2).
In a 2024 interview with Fox News, Morgan shared that his time in the military is “more natural than the country music singer thing.”
“It’s in my DNA. It’s a part of who I am — wanting to help other people,” he explained. “I spent 17 and a half years in my early life in the Army. It is a big part of who I am, what my family is about, what we represent. The love that we have for our country. The passion we have for the freedoms that we celebrate in this nation.”
Morgan continued, “So, to be able to go back, and reignite that fire and be a part of what I believe are the greatest people in our nation — it was very emotional, and I’m excited, honored, humbled and grateful to be able to do it again and hopefully encourage other folks in our country, to celebrate again and be a part of, what I do believe and know to be the greatest nation in the world.”
Morgan recently spoke about how he leaned on his faith as he struggled with the grief of losing his son Jerry in a 2016 boating accident. Jerry was 19.
“As I worked through all that, I realized God was never punishing me,” he said during an episode of the “Dumb Blonde” podcast. “He never was, and I don’t believe for one second that God took my son. I believe the Devil did it, and I do know that God could stop him, and He didn’t, for some reason. And what I have to accept is that that happened.”
Morgan continued, “He’s gone, and that’s it. My youngest said it — ‘We just have to live with the suck for the rest of our lives’. And we miss him, but my faith in God will not waver.”
While Morgan is primarily known for his music career, the singer is committed to sharing both his faith and his love of country with the world.
