Actor David Henrie described the miraculous events that resulted in him and his wife conceiving their first child, Pia.
“It’s a crazy story. So my wife was, you know, we were struggling to have a baby, and a lot of people don’t talk about miscarriages, and she had a few miscarriages…there was a few miscarriages, and we started learning about how to conceive properly and what we need to do to start learning about the body and everything,” Henrie told LIVE! WITH KELLY AND MARK. “And a buddy of mine had said, ‘Hey, I’m going to Rome to meet the Pope, you know, maybe you should come with me and we could see if we could get a special blessing.’ And I was like, ‘That sounds amazing.’ Getting to go with my buddy to meet the Pope to get a special blessing, that sounds wonderful, let’s do it.”

“So, we fly to Rome, I got the moment where my wife and I were there with the Pope and I said to him in Italian… ‘Pray for us that we can have a baby,’ essentially… and he just put his arms around both of us, put his hands on both of us and he said, ‘Don’t worry. You’ll have a baby soon,’” Henrie continued. “And he held our hands and said a little blessing, and I’m not kidding you, nine months later Pia arrived. So Pia’s middle name is Francesca after Pope Francis, so Pia Francesca Henrie. It’s a good little story.”
Henrie and his wife, Maria Cahill, now have three children together. Pia is the oldest, followed by James and Gemma. Henrie’s care for his family is evident and recently played a role in his new movie MONSTER SUMMER which he created for families to be able to watch all together.
“I love the spooky or scary genre because it can really teach us how to deal with fears that come up later in life,” Henrie told Movieguide®. “If you think of, like, even dated forms of storytelling like fairy tales, a lot of times, monsters were used in a symbolic way to teach us greater lessons about the human experience. And this film definitely is that. So, I really didn’t want to stray away from scary elements, but I didn’t want to scar.”

“Everyone knows Reagan,” he said. “So, it comes with a lot of baggage, but a lot of people don’t know young Reagan like they know old Reagan. And young Reagan sounds nothing like old Reagan. So, the challenge was [to] make it authentic, but don’t be an SNL character doing some old Reagan thing.”
