Hulu has ended it’s bundle option with Disney +, which may affect many subscriber’s plans. The change was made December 9, and Hulu will no longer allow members to add Disney + to their bundle.
Disney still fully owns Hulu, however, but the company is wanting to focus more on Disney-based content for its Disney + app. Cord Cutter News reported, “The company is directing these customers toward the alternative Disney+ bundle that incorporates Hulu as the add-on to Disney+ instead of the other way around. This reversed structure positions Disney+ as the core service, with Hulu added on top, often at a comparable or slightly adjusted price point depending on the plan tier.”
Customers who had this plan will see it removed on their next billing cycle.
This past August, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the company would be taking full control of Hulu. At their quarterly earnings call, Iger said, “This will create an impressive package of entertainment, pairing the highest-caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment, family programming, news and industry-leading live sports content in a single app.”

This news isn’t new. The company announced their plans to completely merge the two apps by 2026.
Screen Rant posted to Instagram in August stating “Disney is planning to merge Hulu and Disney+ into one streaming app by 2026. Despite this integration, there will still be options for separate subscriptions.”
People chimed in with differing feelings on the news. “I knew this was coming once they bundled Disney+ with Hulu and Max. Give me all three plus Hulu Live for one price and I’m sold,” one person said. Another person added, “Someone should do a petition to save Hulu.”
According to Nielsen’s “The Gauge” Disney owned streamers currently account for 4.8% of all streaming, making them the third most streamed company. YouTube continues to take the lead by a long shot, with Netflix behind them at 8% of viewership.
While companies like Disney are putting more emphasis on the Disney brand over other brands that they own, other streaming companies are merging. Netflix recently made the major announcement that they are buying Warner Bros. and HBO Max. Netflix claims that it’s motive behind this is to “to maintain Warner Bros.’ current operations and build on its strengths.”
Currently, Disney’s famous Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundle is offering a deal of $29.99 a month from now until January 5th, 2026. Its normal price is $35.99 a month. The ad-free premium version is offering $38.99 for a year, with its regular price at $44.99 a month. There are many bundles to explore, but people will now need to go through Disney+ to purchase them.
