Robert Irwin is connecting his DANCING WITH THE STARS success to the wildlife photography passion that has shaped his public life.

Parade framed its July 7 interview around the “surprising connection” between DANCING WITH THE STARS and Irwin’s “true passion.”

Irwin, the son of the late Steve Irwin and Terri Irwin, grew up around Australia Zoo and has long used cameras to draw attention to wildlife. Australia Zoo describes him as a photographer, conservationist and television personality whose work supports the family’s conservation mission.

That combination explains why a dancing competition can be more than celebrity novelty for families watching at home. The best of reality television lets viewers see discipline, humility and practice rather than only fame.

ABC’s DANCING WITH THE STARS franchise has continued expanding its footprint, including the new spinoff DANCING WITH THE STARS: THE NEXT PRO, which Irwin will host. Irwin’s connection to the franchise gives that expansion a warmer public face because many viewers know him through family, animals and inherited purpose.

Irwin won Season 34 of DANCING WITH THE STARS after competing with professional dancer Witney Carson. His return to the franchise as a host keeps him connected to the show while allowing younger dancers to compete for a professional slot.

The photography angle also gives parents a useful conversation starter. A person’s platform can serve a larger calling when fame points attention back toward stewardship, creation and responsibility.

Irwin’s public brand has usually centered on wonder rather than cynicism. Whether he holds a camera in the wild or steps onto a studio floor, his appeal comes from enthusiasm that feels connected to family legacy.

That does not make every reality show automatically good for families. It does show that some entertainment stories can highlight perseverance, mentorship and the careful use of public attention.

Movieguide® readers often look for signs that young celebrities understand influence as a responsibility. Irwin’s conservation background offers that kind of context, especially when entertainment opportunities could easily become self-focused.

Talents can look unrelated from the outside, but the same patience that helps a photographer wait for the right image can help a performer learn the next step.

For families, that is the more durable story. Success matters less when it becomes applause alone, and more when it becomes another way to honor the work a family has been given.

That framing also fits Irwin’s family legacy. The Irwins built public trust by treating animals and audiences with visible care, and Robert’s entertainment work is strongest when it keeps that same spirit.

DANCING WITH THE STARS may be bright television, but viewers still respond to sincerity. Irwin’s story reminds young fans that skill, practice and stewardship can belong together.
