Country singer Anne Wilson hopes her book, Rebel: Following Jesus When the World Walks the Other Way, inspires readers to boldly proclaim their faith.
“It started with the record that I put out in 2024 called Rebel,” she told ChurchLeaders of the inspiration for the book. “I remember when I was writing that record having all these ideas coming out of, like, there’s more than just these 16 songs. We need to keep kind of breaking down this idea of rebel.”
Wilson continued, “The Lord was just giving me all these ideas. It was so cool to just see God was really making a way for this book to come to fruition.”

The singer also said her book poses an important question for believers: “What does it mean to be a Christian that lives in the world today?”
“When you believe in God and when you walk with Jesus, the world will hate you. That’s what it says in Scripture,” she explained. “I want people to be bold in their faith after reading this book. Especially my generation. I want and pray that it gives them a boldness to just speak about what they believe.”
Being bold about her faith is nothing new to Wilson. The singer recently told Fox News that she has “missed a lot of opportunities for speaking about my faith.”
“I think it’s definitely come at a cost, but I’m the kind of person that I’m very bold in the things I believe in. When I stand for something, I’m going to stand for it knowing the cost,” Wilson added.
She continued, “There’s definitely been moments when I’m looked at a certain way, shows I’m playing at a country festival where I’m literally preaching Jesus and the gospel, and people look at me like I’m crazy. … But I know my calling, and it’s to take Jesus to the world. I believe it with every fiber of my being that that’s what I’m supposed to do.”
In a statement about Rebel, Wilson said, “Jesus changed my life when He showed me that following Him isn’t about fitting in, it’s about standing out for His kingdom. Rebel is an invitation to live with that kind of bold faith. My hope is that readers walk away inspired to trust God more deeply, love Him more fully and courageously follow Him wherever He leads.”
