Baltimore Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser leans on one Bible verse to keep his faith strong.
In an on-field interview with Jesus Over Baseball, Cowser recited 2 Corinthians 12:9, which reads, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
“That’s something that I rely upon, you know, every single day. And you can get caught up in all the minute details of failure,” the outfielder explained after he said the verse. “You know, having my faith rooted in Christ and waking up every morning and getting some word in is what keeps my faith strong in failure.”
In January, Cowser married former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Claire Wolford. The couple tied the knot in Hawaii in a faith-filled ceremony.
“The most intentional, sacred and joyful day🤍Surrounded by immediate family in Hawaii, we said ‘I do’ and prayerfully trusted God with the first chapter of our lives together,” the couple announced in a joint Instagram post.

The couple will have a big celebration with their friends and family this upcoming December.
According to PEOPLE, the wedding photographers shared that the “day felt less like a traditional wedding and more like a sacred elopement, deeply personal, emotional, and intentional.”
Wolford retired from the Dallas Cowboys in 2023 but was called up last year to fill in for an injured cheerleader.
“Not quite sure how to wrap up the best 4 years of my life and a dream come true 💙 This team gave me a family, memories, and opportunities to last a lifetime. Thank you Jesus!!! I love you forever,” Wolford wrote in 2024.
She then shared a video of her return after two two years.
“You never want to get the call to fill in for the girls sake, but what an honor to be trusted two years later! How cool is it that I get to look back on this moment forever?1” she wrote in the caption.
Wolford also hosted a “Pop-up Worship Dance Class” alongside fellow Cowboys cheerleader Sophia Brown.
“Join us for class as we give back to God by using the gift he has given us🤍✝️,” the two dancers shared in a joint post on Instagram.
By grounding both his daily performance on the baseball diamond and his new marriage to Wolford in scripture, Cowser relies on his deep-rooted faith to navigate the highs and lows of his professional sports career.
