DIVINE DIRECTION, an upcoming faith-based movie, will remind viewers that God is always at work, no matter the circumstances.
The film tells the real‑life story of Pastor Charles Moorer who faces the worst when his young son, Chad, is diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer. It’s based on Moorer’s books inspired by the experience titled Standing On The Word of Adoni and Giving Up Is Not An Option.
Dorian Gregory stars in dual lead roles as Charles Moorer and his twin brother, Quinton Moorer. The rest of the cast includes Tamala Jones as Cora Moorer, Eric Roberts as Dr. Patrick Batra, Geoffrey Owens as Charles Moorer Sr., Torrei Hart as Crystal Moorer, Judae’a as Chelsea Moorer and Golden Globe and Grammy-winning gospel singer Regina Belle as Aunt Gertrude.
Joshua Coates adapted, directed and produced the movie, and it just wrapped filming in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A recent Instagram post from DIVINE DIRECTION shares a photo of Gregory as Charles.
“This powerful scene reminds us that even the strongest among us can feel broken… but faith keeps us going. 🙏 This is more than a movie. It’s a reminder that even in our lowest moments, God is still working,” the caption reads.
A quote from Charles accompanies the photo: “Hard times don’t discriminate. No one is immune.”
In a separate Instagram post, content creator Amajae Hardy-Jones, who played an extra in the movie, shared her experience on set.
“Recently I joined the set of DIVINE DIRECTION as a background actor. No expectations,” she began. “I was just excited to be on set, soaking it all in. But the energy of the cast, the story, written and directed and produced by Joshua Coates. That’s when I really started to lean in. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any crazier, I ended up interviewing Joshua Coates himself.”
She added, “From background to interviewing the director, that moment reminded me to never underestimate where a yes can take you.”
Moorer published Giving Up Is Not an Option in 2016. In it, he gives a “raw and honest account of his personal family trials and tribulations, and he shows how – even while on the brink of losing everything – he kept his faith and kept moving forward. He hopes that by reading his story, you gain strength and a new lease on life, no matter what you may be personally going through.”
Stay tuned for when DIVINE DIRECTION will release.
