DANCING WITH THE STARS coach and Great American Family actor Gleb Savchenko set a new record with his dance class that took place on New York’s The Edge at Hudson Yards.
“Huge shoutout to the amazing team at @edgenyc for making this an unforgettable event for myself and my fans. We set a new record dancing at the highest building in the western hemisphere with iconic views of the best city in the world,” Savchenko posted on his Instagram.
“Come and dance with me, I like to make the classes fun, it’s all about good vibes,” he announced of the event that occurred on the 101st floor of the iconic observation deck.
He held a meet and greet with his fans before the official event, with one woman wanting a dance lesson before her wedding.
“One of my fans from SALSA IN THE SKY is getting married so I gave her a quick dance lesson on the sky deck. Congrats,” Savchenko posted.
The Russian-born and trained dancer joined DWTS Season 32 and is paired with SOUND OF FREEDOM star Mira Sorvino. Sorvino praised her coach on Instagram.
“So excited to work with @glebsavchenkoofficial Gleb who is not only incredibly talented but very funny!” she wrote.
Savchenko made his acting debut this month with in Danica McKellar’s Great American Family movie SWING INTO ROMANCE—a movie about a woman who enters a dance contest to save her family’s store.
Movieguide recently reported on the 40-year-old’s take on working with the actress:
“Grateful and Thrilled to Embark on My Acting Journey!” Savchenko captioned a series of photos from the production. “Excited to announce my first role in a movie and can’t wait to bring this character to life of Alex Ivanov. Working hard, pushing boundaries, and embracing every moment.”
He singled co-star Danica McKellar out “for believing in me and guiding me through this incredible experience and also being an amazing dance partner.”
“It’s all about teamwork!” Savchenko concluded. “Feeling blessed and ready to shine on the big screen!”
McKellar also had nothing but positive things to say about her new movie and costars:
“I’m beyond proud of this movie, for so many reasons… first, I got to practice my @dancingwiththestars skills with two awesome partners – @davidhavdniones (who was also my incredible co-star!) and DWTS pro @glebsavchenkoofficial, which was a dream come true!!”
Savchenko wasn’t McKellar’s dance coach when she appeared on season 18 of DWTS, but he helped her train for SWING INTO ROMANCE while she coached his acting skills.
“Also, this was @glebsavchenkoofficial’s first acting job – and after all the work he put in (I had the joy of coaching him!), you’d never know he hadn’t been doing it for years,” the actress said.
Hard work and learning “from the best” are keys to success for those who want to learn to dance, according to Savchenko.
“Put as much time, practice, and effort into everything that you do. Try to perfect your art and your craft. Try to learn. Don’t take it lightly, dig in, and dig in deep. It will all pay off later,” he advised.
