Why Eagles QB Incorporates Scripture Into Pre-Game Routine

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts shared that while preparing every week for his next matchup, he turns to the Bible for wisdom.
“I try to keep it as consistent as possible,” Hurts told GQ when asked about his weekly routine. “Especially with my daily prayers and devotionals — my spiritual time, I guess you would call it. Maybe I’ll listen to church or listen to some good music.”
“I’ve found that the plane gives me a lot of time to take a deep dive in scripture, and then go back on my week of notes and the game plan for the opponent,” he continued. “Those things are very important to me, and I feel like you have to intentionally pursue them to continue to build wisdom.”
The quarterback has long been open about his faith and how it helps him cope with the life of a professional athlete. Heading into last year’s Super Bowl, he shared that his faith helps him stay rooted regardless of how he performs because he knows that no matter what, he is pleasing to the Lord.

“I really lean on Him, and I try to keep Him in the center of everything that I do because I know without God, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” he said. “I wouldn’t be the man that I am today without having that faith in Him, without integrity and leadership and diligence and all those things.”
“I think the biggest thing is you get so influenced by so much around you, you just want to pray that you’re the person that God calls you to be,” Hurts continued. “So that’s what I’m gonna do — be what God called me to be.”
His reliance on the Lord has certainly paid off, and even though the Eagles lost the Super Bowl last year, he has led them back to another successful season with a playoff berth already clinched.
“Hurts has led the Eagles to a great season, with Philadelphia currently 12-2 and in first place in the NFC East. They have already secured a playoff berth and positioned themselves as a legitimate Super Bowl threat in search of a second Lombardi Trophy,” Bleacher Report said.
