For KING + COUNTRY Announces Album Inspired by UNSUNG HERO Soundtrack

By Movieguide® Contributor

For KING + COUNTRY musicians Joel and Luke Smallbone just announced the April 26 release of their “The Inspired By Soundtrack” album, based on their upcoming movie UNSUNG HERO.

“The duo drops their latest track from the soundtrack today, ‘Crazy,’” The Christian Beat reported on Tuesday, “featuring the Smallbones and GRAMMY Award-winner (and sister) Rebecca St. James, along with a soundtrack version of the title track, ‘Unsung Hero.’”

Movieguide® reported last month:

UNSUNG HERO tells the true story of the Smallbone family’s move from Australia to the United States

“With nothing more than their six children, their suitcases, and their love of music, David (for KING + COUNTRY’s Joel Smallbone) and his pregnant wife Helen (Daisy Betts) set out to rebuild their lives from the ground up. Based on a remarkable true story, a mum’s faith stands against all odds; and inspires her husband and children to hold onto theirs,” a synopsis of the movie reads

The movie will release on April 26, 2024, the same day as the soundtrack.

“The album will be available in conjunction with the film that releases same-day in theaters nationwide via LIONSGATE/ for KING + COUNTRY ENTERTAINMENT,” The Christian Beat continued. “The film stars Joel Smallbone; he also co-wrote the film, and it is his directorial debut.”

“The Inspired by Soundtrack” includes some already released singles: “Place In This World” feat. Michael W. Smith, “Checking In” with Lee Brice, “Lead Me On” feat. Amy Grant and “To Hell With The Devil (RISE)” feat. Lecrae & Stryper.

“What a field day we had with this album!  We have more features than any album we’ve ever done, having had the opportunity to take these incredibly nostalgic 90’s songs and re-imagine them with a for KING + COUNTRY flair,” the brothers said. “…It’s been quite an adventure, a creative process to re-envision these songs. We hope everyone enjoys them as much as we enjoyed making them!”

Luke told Shine FM: “Music has always been our way of connecting with people, of sharing our hearts. This soundtrack, especially the remake of ‘My Place in This World,’ feels very timely. It’s about finding your purpose, something we all strive for.”

Jesus Wired reported that the brothers grew up with Michael W. James’ song “My Place in This World,” and they were thrilled to reimagine the song with him. They called its place on the new soundtrack “indelible.”
