God’s Ways Aren’t Our Ways, and That’s a Good Thing

Priscilla Shirer knows that God’s ways are not always our ways.
In a message posted to TBN, the actress and speaker shared with her audience how we can be involved in church and still not be living in God’s ways.
“It is possible for you to be in your church every single Sunday… and not have an encounter with Jesus,” she began. “If you read the scriptures with a hardened heart, your eyes not open. You can be filling your days with the duty of religious activity and never catch sight of the lover of your soul.”

“Many times, when the Lord comes to minister to you to speak into your life circumstances, He will come in a way that is not the way your expected. Why? Because His ways are not our ways; His thoughts are not our thoughts.”
The scripture Shirer referenced is Isaiah 55:8-9, which says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
She continued, “As high as the heavens are above the earth, that’s how high His ways and His thoughts are above our own, and what I attempt to do, what you attempt to do, I’m sure is [t] dumb Him down so that His ways match our ways, His thoughts match our thoughts.”
Shirer explained how sometimes what God sends can be difficult, but He uses things to help us grow and get to where we need to be.
“Sometimes we pray from growth, and He answers with rain,” she said.
Shirer concluded her message with this challenge: “When He answers, if the answer does not come in the package that you expected, will you miss it because you want your way, not His way?”

Shirer recently released her latest book, “I Surrender All.”
“Salvation is a gift of God. It’s free. It’s grace. It’s the cross,” a description of the book reads. “Discipleship comes at a high cost. It’s surrender. It’s effort. It’s a daily choice to lay down your life and follow His. Few believers choose this route, but the ones who do will experience the abundance that only the surrendered life can offer. It’s the one choice standing between you and the life of freedom and fulfillment, of peace and purpose you’ve always wanted. ‘I Surrender All’ is all about making that choice.”
