Jenn Todryk believes she left her HGTV show, NO DEMO RENO, at the perfect time.

“I do think I chose to walk away at the perfect time. I didn’t want my kids to spend their childhood on a ‘set,’ I didn’t want their home and safe space to feel like a set or be at home while I was away. I see pictures like this and think, what a cool part of my story and not wishing it was my only story and for that I am SO grateful!” Todryk shared in an Instagram story.

The mom of three finished her last season in 2023, but the show is not officially canceled. She shared in her podcast that she’s taking a long break.

“I basically had to come to the realization that I’m either all-in and I’m over everything or I don’t do it,” said Todryck.

One of the things she liked most about her show was impacting people’s lives.

“Being part of someone’s life story is like the biggest and most emotional to me,” she said, explaining that some of the homes she’s renovated will stay in families for generations.

“That’s something that like gets passed down to grandkids, to be part of that. They may not remember my name, and that’s fine, I don’t need that, but still I was part of that. And that’s crazy to me, like that’s a big life story that gets carried,” she said.

Last year, Todryk told First for Women that she has to be very disciplined in her work-life balance.

“If I say I’m going to be home from filming at 4:30, then I need to stick to that. It’s really hard in this industry, because they want you to stay till 7 or 8 p.m. They’ll ask you to do that, and every day you’ll be like, ‘Bye!’” she explained.

“People might be a little irritated with you, but you made that promise to be home for your family at 4:30, and that is something I always stick to,” she said. “It’s hard and it’s a mind cluster all the time, because it eats at you and it brings up a lot of different emotions. The new phase I’m in right now is about fun-life balance, just slowing down and seeing what I’m doing.”

Todryk says her third child taught her more about being a mom than she expected.

“The third one taught me to lower my unrealistic expectations of myself because to my surprise, no one is watching me t keep track of my ‘motherhood score.’ The third one taught me that I am most definitely not the one making the plans for my life, since she is what we call our ‘bonus baby’ 😂,” she wrote.

“The third one taught me that my house will never be as clean as it was when I had two kids, but some how after the third I’m 100% accepting of that fact. The third one taught me what true anxiety felt like as I watched her lick shoe after shoe the first one and half years of her life 🤢,” she continued. “The third one helped me give more grace to moms of multiple kids at birthday parties because now I’m one of them.”

It’s great that Todryk has more time for her kids now — I’m sure her husband and children appreciate it.
