How AM I RACIST?’s Satirical Approach Exposes DEI Industry
By Movieguide® Contributor
Though AM I RACIST? is a movie made to expose liberal ideologies and agendas, the creators of the movie explain why they believe it is appealing to and has value for all audiences.
“This movie is important because it’s very rare that you have an actual conservative-leaning film come out in theaters and for it to be primarily entertainment rather than politically oriented,” Ben Shapiro, who executive produced the movie, told Movieguide®. “Matt [Walsh] worked super hard to make this really funny and really entertaining, and as people are going to see, it truly is. And I think it’s going to strike a blow also on a bigger issue, which is the infusion of diversity equity inclusion (DEI) into all of our major institutions.”
“[Matt’s] good at introducing the ideas that are at the center of the culture war to a broad audience, and he’s good at doing that in a straight-faced, satirical, everyman way, and so I think he did that very effectively with this movie,” added Jordan Peterson. “I think people respond to it…it’s actually quite funny, which it’s supposed to be in a strait-laced way. So I’m quite happy that he’s exposing the machinations of the DEI industry.”
AM I RACIST? is a mockumentary that exposes the way that the DEI movement has weaponized racism for their own benefit and profit. The movie follows Daily Wire personality Matt Walsh as he exposes the absurdity of the industry through a comical, mockumentary. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:
AM I RACIST? is often funny and sometimes hilarious. Some of the comments against racism and white people by the Marxist race hustlers are unintentionally hilarious but also outrageous. Matt plays along with them and says a few crazy things himself. AM I RACIST? uses satire to expose Marxist “antiracist” ideology and identity politics as the fraud they truly are. Some of the people in AM I RACIST who are interviewed or depicted utter some obscenities, but the “f” words are bleeped out to get a PG-13 rating. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution.
While looking to entertain through its comedy elements, AM I RACIST? also seeks to educate the public on this issue and reveal how racism is being weaponized. Walsh’s ultimate goal is to inspire change across America and stop the DEI from continuing to spread its nefarious agenda.
“I hope [audiences] walk away realizing that, you know, the kind of racial division and resentment and suspicion and guilt in this country is really being driven by these race hustlers — grifters — who stand to profit immensely off it,” said Walsh. “Those are the people who are creating a lot of this because they have a vested interest in keeping it going. So, the best thing is just to ignore them and, you know, live our lives.”
“I think one of the key tools that we have in the toolbox of truth is satire, the ability to mock foolish ideas,” added Kirk Cameron. “The idea that white people are inherently racist here in America is foolish, and it’s movies like this that can point these obvious truths out.”
AM I RACIST? is in theatres now.
