Jenny Marrs shared memories of a lost loved one as she celebrates a “big milestone” — the upcoming release of her latest book!
“A little over one year ago, after two long years of work, I emailed my first draft of my new manuscript to my editor,” the HGTV star wrote in an Instagram post. “The reliefI felt in that moment was palpable (granted, I didn’t know it then but there was still a long year of work ahead – but – this was a huge milestone in the process).”
After Marrs sent her first draft in, she texted her friends and family to let them know she had finished this step of the writing process.
“The one person I really, really wanted to tell was my beloved Mama Tay. The mom-of-my-heart, who, over two decades ago, was my house mom in college and who continued to text me and pray for me every single day,” she wrote. “She was the first one I asked to pray before I began writing. Her prayers covered these pages and I wanted her to know the first draft was finished.”
However, Marrs’ Mama Tay had passed away just a few days earlier.
“She once told me that she loved to talk to God about me,” she wrote. “The fact that I knew they were sitting together talking about me face-to-face fills my heart with joy.”
Marrs continued, “She was one of my greatest cheerleaders earth side and, gracious, I miss her but I know there’s no where else she’d rather be than right where she is. I won’t get the phone call or the text that I would have received had I finished seven days sooner, but I have no doubt she’s smiling while dancing on streets of gold in celebration.”
“Now, a year later, I have another big milestone to share tomorrow,” she concluded.

That milestone? The publication of her latest book, Trust God, Love People.
“For the past three years, I’ve been quietly plugging away writing one story, one page, one chapter at a time,” Marrs wrote in an Instagram post announcing the book. “Each time I sat down to write, I’d pray about which stories to share and then I’d wonder how in the world I’d ever take all of these stories and find the common thread connecting them. Until, my editor read the first draft of the manuscript. She said simply, this book is about learning to trust God and then, in turn, loving the people He puts in my path as a result of that deep, abiding trust.”
Marrs wrote about the book in a 2024 Instagram post, sharing, “This book is all about God’s abounding faithfulness in my life. I have never written anything more vulnerable.”
Trust God, Love People is now available for pre-order and will hit shelves Oct. 7.
